I have, as with each successive printing, added clarifications, fresh problem-solving ideas (often creative and non-traditional) and new information. I have made some sections easier to read. You'll be surprised by the many humorous passages, which are included to help cut through the density of material and to give a "real world" perspective.

The appendices have been improved quite a bit, including re the self-inspection checklist, addresses, phone numbers, and internet info. Even the foreword (by Alan McMillan, President of the National Safety Council, and former OSHA Regional Administrator) has been updated. How can a book on OSHA be interesting?

I wouldn't have thought reading about OSHA, or any government regularity program, could be made palatable. Mr. Kaletsky proved me wrong. He uses anecdotes and humor to give the reader clear descriptions of his topics.
The book is more practical than academic. It is a tool that can be used rather than a title to leave on a shelf to impress an OSHA inspector. It makes you think safety rather than just regulations.
I highly recommend the book.

Does Not Capture The Magic Of Autumn Falls

Autumn's Kiss was an attempt by the author to capture the magic of the Autumn Falls, but this one falls short of expectations. With the diary out of commission, Autumn's only option is to make her own decisions and continue the friendships she forged when first relocating to town. Predictably, Autumn makes a mess of things, but will an unexpected turn of events help to get her back on track?

I wonder how Autumn had any friends when she used to live in Maryland, as now she does not seem to be able to figure it out without the help of the supernatural. The first book was charming, but this one felt like the author was trying too hard. I really like the character of Autumn, so I will be reading the next book, but Autumn's Kiss was a miss for me.

My brother had this book as a kid and we both loved doing the fun & easy drawings

I was stunned to find this book on Amazon! My brother had this book as a kid and we both loved doing the fun & easy drawings. I bought it for my niece who loves animals. I should've bought one for me, too! Young kids who like to draw will like these easy instructions on how to draw a variety of animals. 35 years later and I still remember how to draw a monkey based on the lessons in this book!

In short, this is a classic. Whenever a children's book endures for decades after its debut, it has a certain magic. That it's a drawing book with little text is all the more remarkable.

I'm in my 50s now, and I remember checking this book out of the library and spending hours going through its many drawing examples. Building animals from simple shapes any kid can draw is part of the appeal. Author Emberley teaches in such a way that even the most dexterity-challenged can draw stylized animals. No artist's eye or hand needed, just fun results.

Few books today for children are an insta-buy. This is one of them. Every kid should have this in his or her library. And if you want it to pass down to others, the durable library binding is the way to go and well worth the slight added cost.

This book depicts an amazing way for children (of all ages!) to learn how to draw animals.
The simplistic yet detailed way the various pieces are put together to create the pictures is amazing and clear.
I had come across this book in random browsing and now I've bookmarked it for future use with my daughter (still a baby).
I bought a copy for my friend who has a 3 year old. That's well below the recommended age, but they are having fun doing it together. My friend would draw the first step (bigger version) of a picture, her 3 year old will trace over it, and then my friend would add the next step, etc. etc. I think it helps her daughter learn how to do it piece-wise and really see the image form.

One simple book--I can see many years of use from it.

About the Author
Dr. Tom Amberry was a podiatrist for 40 years, publishing many articles about various aspects of his profession. On November 15, 1993, following his retirement, Dr. Amberry shot his way into The Guinness Book of Records by sinking 2,750 free throws in a row. Since then he has become internationally known as, in the words of one announcer, "the best free throw shooter ever to touch a basketball." Dr. Amberry travels constantly, teaches shooting clinics and makes frequent radio and TV appearances. He has been featured on NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, ESPN, Dateling, Day One, The Late Show with David Letterman, NBA Inside Stuff, and ABCs World News Tonight. On his college basketball team, Tom Amberry was twice the nation's high scorer. He was an All-American two years in a row, turning down a two-year, no-cut contract with the Lakers to pursue a career in medicine.

Addresses both the physical and mental aspects of shooting free throws

Simple, step by step instruction that anyone, even a non basketball player, can follow to improve their free throws. This step by step process not only teaches you how to position your body and throw the ball, it also includes how to filter out the noise that often gets in the way of making successful free throws consistently and under pressure. My son won a free throw contest using this method without practicing much. Getting players to practice this method as much as Dr. Amberry suggests is a bit of a challenge given that many players are more into the sensational aspect versus the work aspect of playing ball. For those who are open to using it again and again, they will be amazed at what a difference it can make.

The book is a super quick read but for those who are more visual he has a video as well. I bought both.

Great book but . . .

A friend loaned me this book to read to try and help my kids. I enjoyed the book and purchased it for my 3 kids to read(2 boys, 1 girl), all basketball players since 5 yrs old and all played/playing high school ball. But they wouldn't read the book even though their respective free throw percentages have not been good. Probably would be best for very young players or players first starting to play basketball. Or maybe kids who listen to their dads (LOL).

The steps outlined in this book are very simple. Anyone can follow the steps and improve their free throw shooting.

Would suggest that a high school freshmen basketball coach require his (her) team to read this book and if any player's free throw percentage dropped below 50% they would be required to follow the technique developed by Dr. Amberry.

Great story and excellent technical description of free throw shooting

Lovely story of setting the Guinness Book of Records for consecutive free throw shooting; a great technical description of shooting a foul shot and lots of mental lessons to take away for life in general. My only problem was that it was 80 pages of text. Hard to get my fourteen year old to buy-in. A couple of pictures of the author with some College or NBA stars would have earned it the fifth star.
